About Jim Rissling
Jim is a retired conservation officer with 31 years
experience enforcing fish and wildlife legislation.
An avid outdoorsman who enjoys the wonders of God's
creation, Jim lives with his wife Annabelle in Chilliwack,
British Columbia.
Background:
Jim grew up in Dawson Creek, BC, Canada. During his
childhood and teenage years, Jim developed a fascination
and deep appreciation for wildlife.
The son of a professional taxidermist, he cultivated
a sense for the itricacies of shapes, sizes and colours
in the wildlife kingdom. In 1990, Jim applied this gift
to carving. He has crafted a variety of wildlife in
wood and most recently soapstone.

This fish was caught, tagged and released unharmed
back into the Fraser River.
Awards:
Jim has won numerous awards in carving competitions
with the Central Fraser Valley Carving Club and the
Richmond Carving Club.

Associations:
Duck Unlimited. Over the past 20 years, Jim has supported
the Chilliwack, Agassiz and Abbotsford chapters by donating
carvings for their fundraisers. He has done commissions
for corporate sponsors of Ducks Unlimited for the Chilliwack
chapter fundraisers.
He also supports and donates to other organizations
such as the Chilliwack Fish and Wildlife Protective
Association, the BC Wildlife Federation, the Sport Fishing
Defense Alliance, the BC Drift Fishers Association,
the Fraser Valley Salmon Society, Fraser River Sturgeon
Conservation Society, the Juvenile Diabetes Association,
missionary fundraisers and others.
